pays de gex

The Pays de Gex, between Lake Geneva and the Jura Mountains

Discovering the Pays de Gex

Attached to France in 1601, the Pays de Gex is an isolated territory between the Swiss border and the high chain of Jura in the Lemanic valley, north-east of the department of Ain.

There are two areas:

  • The mountain reaching up to 1,720 meters above sea level (at Crêt de la Neige)
  • The plain, mainly oriented towards Switzerland.

Rich in history and heritage, this French territory turned to international groups more than 100 nationalities. It offers an exceptional quality of life, multicultural, one of the most beautiful views of Mont Blanc, and of course apartments and villas of exception.

The flagship cities of the Pays de Gex

  • Ferney-Voltaire

With its castle that was the last residence of Voltaire, this town is a real bridge between France, Switzerland and most European capitals. Its particularity lies in its proximity to Geneva airport, since it allows users to benefit from all its flights via the French sector of the airport just 5 minutes. The city hosts a college and an international high school where children from every corner of the world come together every day. Dynamic and booming, this city will connect you with the entire Pays de Gex. Indeed, many other towns and villages in the area will charm you in more ways than one.
